A Typical Day in the Twos

The year begins with an orientation period.  We have an evening meeting before the children begin, to talk with parents about separation, about what the school year will be like, and to answer questions.

When children are comfortable with being at school and able to separate we get into our regular school routine.  Every day the class...

  • sings
  • reads books, nursery rhymes and finger-plays
  • paints at the easel
  • plays in the "kitchen"
  • builds
  • plays with sand, play dough and/or water
  • has many conversations with teachers and children
  • joins the other 2s class for singing, movement, and play
  • goes outside (weather permitting) for large motor development and fun in SandWorld, Elmville, the bikes, or the playground
  • has fun!
